When Motherhood Feels Heavy

Published on 24 February 2025 at 12:54

Some days, the weight of motherhood is overwhelming. The never-ending to-do lists, the constant needs, the emotions running high, the exhaustion that settles deep into my bones—it can feel like too much.

There are days when the noise is deafening, when the demands feel relentless, and when I wonder how I can possibly pour from an empty cup. Motherhood is beautiful, but it is also stretching. Some days, I feel like I am failing. Some days, I wonder if I’m doing enough, being enough, loving enough.

But even in the hardest moments, I know this is right where God wants me to be.

A Holy Calling, Not Just a Role

Motherhood isn’t just about the day-to-day tasks or surviving the hard seasons. It’s a calling. A sacred, holy assignment given by God. He chose me to be their mother—to wipe their tears, to hold them close, to speak life into their little hearts. He placed me here, knowing my strengths and my weaknesses, knowing I would need His grace every single day.

And that’s the beauty of it. I was never meant to do this alone.

When the weight feels unbearable, He is there. When I am running on empty, He is my source. When I feel unseen, He reminds me—He sees me. Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every whispered prayer over tiny sleeping faces… it all matters.

God’s Strength in My Weakness

It’s easy to believe the lie that I have to hold everything together. That I have to be the perfect mother. That if I can’t do it all, I’m somehow failing. But God never asked me to be perfect—He asked me to be faithful.

Motherhood was never meant to be carried in my own strength. His grace is sufficient. His strength is made perfect in my weakness. And when I lean into Him, when I surrender my need to do it all on my own, I find peace.

For the Mama Who Feels Weary

If you’re in a season where motherhood feels heavy, you’re not alone. I see you. More importantly, God sees you. He knows the weight you carry. He knows the love you pour out, even when you feel like you have nothing left to give.

On the days when it feels like too much, let Him carry you. Let His grace fill in the gaps. Let His presence remind you that right here, in the midst of the chaos and exhaustion, you are exactly where you’re meant to be.

You are doing holy work.

You are seen.

You are loved.

And even on the hardest days, this calling remains sacred.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." – Proverbs 31:25
